Please note: Use of the Text Message option may incur additional charges through your cell phone provider, especially if you live or are travelling internationally.
While push notifications through the Duo Mobile app are the recommended method of authentication, there may be times when you are unable to use the app. Text messages (SMS) are a good backup plan.
The following devices support using SMS text messages to verify your identity:
- Smartphone
- Mobile phone with SMS text messaging capability
If you use SMS as your authentication method, a text message with a passcode is sent to your device. Each passcode can be used only once.
Here are the steps to set up Duo authentication via SMS text message.
1. When prompted to add a device, select Phone number.
2. Enter your phone number and select Continue.
3. You will receive a text message with a passcode. Enter the passcode in the box on your computer screen, and select Verify.
4. Once you have authenticated, you will be able to select CGI services from the portal and go about your business.
