If you authenticate with a smartphone or tablet, Duo App - Push Notification is the recommended method because it is the easiest and quickest way to authenticate. A push notification is sent to your device and all you have to do is tap Approve to authenticate.
Note: Internet or cellular access is required to use this method.
The following devices support push notification to verify your identity:
- Smartphone
- Tablet
The first time you attempt to log in to the CGI portal, you will be prompted to get started with Duo for authentication. For best results, you should be on your computer and have your phone nearby.
1. Choose your device and method of authentication, which would be Duo Mobile to get a notification or code on your device.
2. Enter the phone number of the device you are using. (note: If you are using a tablet, select I have a tablet and follow those instructions.)
3. You will be asked to verify and then confirm your phone number. Once confirmed, select Send me a passcode.
4. On your computer screen, enter the passcode that you received via text message and select Verify.
5. On your phone, download and install the Duo Mobile app. Select Next when you are ready to proceed.
Note: if you have already installed Duo Mobile, there is no need to re-install it.
6. A QR code will appear on your computer.
7. On your phone in the Duo app, Add an account.
8. Select Use QR code.
9. Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code on your computer screen. You will be offered the option to rename the account and to add other authentication options.
10. When done, you will see a confirmation message.
11. Ensure that you have enabled notifications for the Duo App in your phone's settings.
