Email dropboxing lets you copy your correspondence with people in Populi to the Activity Feeds on their profiles.
Directions
1. Set up your dropbox in your personal Populi settings.
- Click your name up by the Help link and select Settings.
- Click generate dropbox address.
- Populi generates an address that looks something like
4b2697830cfbbhjic57c@email.populi.co. - Don't share this address with anyone!
- Populi generates an address that looks something like
- Create a new contact in your CGI email program (Gmail, Outlook, etc) for this address.
2. Use the email address created for the dropbox as a BCC when emailing students. You may also forward emails directly to this address. Provided the email addresses in your message are listed for someone in Populi, the email will then be attached to a person's activity feed.

FAQ
I BCC'ed my Populi dropbox on an email to a student and it did not go to the student's activity feed.
This could be for several reasons:
The student did not email you from an email address that Populi has attached to the student's account, so Populi did not recognize the student.
Solution: Copy and paste the contents of the email into a note in Populi in the student's activity feed.
I BCC'ed my Populi dropbox and I can see the email in the student's activity feed. No one else can see it.
Solution: The visibility options on the email in Populi may be set to private. You can confirm this by looking at the email in the student's activity feed to see the Visibility notice, usually at the bottom of the email.
If it says Private, you will need to adjust the visibility.
- Click on the three-dot menu on the right of the email and select Edit Email.
- A menu of View Permissions will appear. Select all that apply, and Save.
Populi returned my email as undeliverable.
This can happen if you emailed the student from an email address other than your CGI email. Check the email account that you sent the email from.
Solution: Copy and paste the contents of the email into a note in Populi in the student's activity feed. Then set up the other email address as a secondary email in your Populi profile.
Can I text students? How does this get dropboxed to Populi?
Yes, you can text students if they have allowed the use of their cell phone number. However, texts sent from your cell phone cannot be dropboxed to Populi.
There are 2 solutions.
- If you've texted from your cell phone, you can take screen shots of the conversation. Create a Word document with those screen shots and upload it to the student's Activity Feed with a brief explanation. You can upload the document as an attachment.
